Logan is the county seat of Cache County and the cultural, historical, and economic center of the Cache Valley region in far Northern Utah. Tucked away in a fertile mountain valley, Logan is bounded by the dramatic Bear River Mountains to the east and the Wellsville Mountains to the west. Settled in 1859 by pioneer families who utilized the Logan River to power early gristmills, the city grew through agriculture and food processing before emerging as an educational center with the founding of the Agricultural College of Utah (now USU) in 1888. Today, Logan balances its college-town atmosphere with a diverse economy including manufacturing, biotechnology, and agricultural research. The city’s historic Main Street features local shops, independent restaurants, and the historic Ellen Eccles Theatre.
