Taylorsville was settled in 1848 by John Taylor and other pioneer families who established farms along the Jordan River. For nearly 150 years, the area was known as part of the unincorporated Granger-Hunter-Taylorsville community. In 1996, residents voted to incorporate to gain local control over planning, zoning, and municipal services.
